  1. Our class spent a week in the Northern Thai village of Mae Chaem. The Mae Chaem valley is divided into small villages. Our students stayed in one of the villages. We had class daily in the wad (Buddhist Temple). We also learned how to cook local cuisine, walked through rice fields, crossed a hanging bridge, and participated in a "merit-making" celebration which demonstrated Mae Chaem's unique blend of animism and Buddhism.
